Mid August Update from Congressman John Adler

Dear Friend,

It is an exciting and challenging time to serve in Congress. Thanks to your continued support, I am working to solve the difficult problems that have been ignored for far too long in our country.

This summer, I helped pass the American Clean Energy and Security Act, a historic bill that will create jobs in New Jersey, strengthen America’s national security and reverse the trend of global climate change. I know that American entrepreneurs and workers can meet the goal of energy independence, and I am confident that New Jersey can become a market leader in clean energy technology.

As a Member of the Financial Services Committee, I am helping to shape legislation that will reform our financial system to prevent a future economic crisis. These reforms must protect the investments of seniors, working families and small businesses, while also encouraging economic and market growth. With transparent markets, investor confidence will be restored and America will reach a new level of prosperity.

Furthermore, with Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst and 66,000 veterans located in my district. I have been extremely involved in helping our country’s heroes receive the benefits they deserve. As the only New Jersey Representative on the Veterans’ Affairs Committee, I am using my platform to investigate the Philadelphia VA for their negligence in treating veterans with prostate cancer. We must keep our promise to the brave men and women that have volunteered to serve our country.

Most importantly, I am listening to my constituents every day. In the past seven months, I have held over 35 town hall meetings. These meetings allow me to be responsive to the needs of the more than 50 towns that I proudly represent.
